Frequently Asked Questions

What birds are for sale?

Our selection of hand-fed babies varies greatly depending on the time of the year. Please check our hand-fed babies page for the most current information.

What is your return policy?

Due to the risk of contamination, we cannot accept returns or exchanges (our vet insists).

Do you ship products outside of the United States?

No, we do not.

Are your prices negotiable?

No, they are not. We strive to be competitive and fair in our pricing. Occasionally, and for varied reasons, we may adjust the price of a bird if we deem necessary.

Are your babies hand-fed?

Yes, we hand-feed all of our baby parrots.

Why does my bird have a band around his or her leg?

When we raise babies that were bred at our aviary, we often put a leg band on each chick. We do this because it allows us to tell them apart and because the bands have codes on them that will always trace back to us in the event the bird was ever lost or stolen. Leg bands also allow owners to prove DNA and disease testing results if ever needed.

My bird does not have a leg band, what does that mean?

Typically, it doesn't mean anything. The original breeder may not have put a band on or it may have fallen off when the bird was small. Or, the owner had a veterinarian remove the band because they felt it was unsafe or bothering their bird. Lack of a leg band does not mean the bird was wild-caught.

Can I buy an unweaned bird?

No, we do not sell our babies unweaned.

I purchased a bird but I don't want it anymore, will you take it back?

We feel that owning a bird is a lifetime commitment. When people buy or adopt from us, we do our best to make sure that this is understood. However, we understand that things happen, lives change and that sometimes people can no longer care for their bird(s). We will always take back any bird that was from us originally but please note, we will not buy the bird back.

I have a bird that I can no longer care for but I did not buy it from you originally, will you still take it in?

Yes, we will take in almost any bird that needs our help. Please be aware, we will require disease testing to be completed on any bird that we did not raise. Typically, we will cover the cost of disease testing however this is decided on a case-by-case basis.

Do you disease test all of your birds?

Our breeding flock, store residents and environment are routinely tested for Polyoma, Psittacosis and PBFD. Due to the costly nature of disease testing, we do not disease test each of our babies except upon request and payment by the purchaser.

Do you offer a health guarantee?

Yes, we offer a 72 hour health guarantee with any baby or adult. Please note, this does not cover environmental (such as non-stick fume exposure) or negligence on the part of the owner.

Do you ship your parrots?

No, we do not ship our birds.
